Collection

The collection at LGSA by EIOS is founded on the personal archive that Enrico Isamu Oyama has built over many years. While it initially grew out of his own artistic practice, the collection gradually developed into a systematic effort to gather resources that could serve as a foundation for research and discourse on street art.

With the establishment of LGSA by EIOS, these materials are no longer presented simply as a private library. They are now positioned as publicly accessible and open research resources.

The collection includes not only monographs, photo books, and scholarly studies directly related to street art, but also publications dealing with urban expression more broadly, such as writings on “graffiti” and related practices. The scope ranges from introductory texts to rare and academically significant volumes. Beyond books, the collection also comprises free papers, exhibition flyers, and related products, reflecting the diversity of media through which street art is represented.

The collection currently comprises approximately 500 volumes, with ongoing acquisitions planned to further expand and enrich the archive.

Database

The LGSA by EIOS Database is designed not only to provide bibliographic information on the collection, but also to serve as a reference point for broader knowledge related to street art. In addition to cataloging the collected materials, it incorporates entries on key terms, information on artists and researchers, as well as data on institutions and sites. These elements are interlinked, enabling users to begin from an individual resource and extend their understanding toward broader discourses and practices.

The beta version of the database is currently available on this website. Through ongoing operation, we will continue to refine and expand its contents, gradually transitioning toward a fully developed public release. It is intended to serve as foundational infrastructure for the study of street art, supporting not only researchers and students but also a broader audience with an interest in the field.
